When Apple released its two iPads one after the other in year 2012, it broke its own principles this we are not quite sure when exactly iPad 5 will be launched. Let us have a look at the speculated release dates, specification and features of the upcoming iPad 5.
Speculated Release Date
The most speculated time for iPad 5’s release is this autumn since Apple released iOS 7. The earlier version was released in Nov 2012 right after one month of its announcement. Since the make was already two-generations old, it is highly unlikely that Apple is going to wait any further for the next iPad launch.
IPad 5 Specifications
So far it has been established iPad 5 will follow an iPad mini in its design strategy and is expected to be almost three times slimmer than its precursor iPad 4. That is, the device is going to be about 7mm in thickness and 500g in weight.
We still don’t know how Apple made it possible. It could be either by using a thinner 0.2 mm glass or lesser LED backlights would in turn let Apple use a tiny battery without having any effect on the battery life itself. Laminating the LCD to the glass as in iPad mini could also be a reason for a slimmer model since it reduces glare and thickness enhancing quality.
Some of the other rumored features we could find in iPad 5 are:
- An option for Haptic feedback (something good that Androids enjoyed)
- A better back facing camera.
- A more efficient and fast processor.
- Additional colors: slate as in iPad mini, gold and gray colors.
Continuing Apple’s pricing traditions, iPad 5 is definitely going to be priced at £399 initially at least in UK. It could be 16GB or 32GB, still nobody is sure but we are hoping for an increase in minimum capacity since MicroSD is not an option here.
Be ready to spend £100 more for a 3G or 4G version whereas the WI-Fi only devices are certainly not going to have a GPS receiver. The best bet is going to be128GB WI-FI + 4G model which will start at £739.
