The users of desktop who were expecting that the Start menu will be restored by Microsoft in Windows 8.1 Preview were in dismay because previous week Win 8.1 has been launched officially by Microsoft and it has been confirmed that Microsoft has returned the Start button only. The users can directly switch between the Start screen and the desktop by using the “Start” button in this update from Microsoft.

The majority of the desktop users if also Windows 8 users and they are not pleased to see the Start button could not have “Start” menu. The users who have upgraded to Windows 8.1 are searching for some ways to disable or hide the “Start” button in Win 8.1. Unluckily, till now there is no application or program available for hiding or disabling the “Start” button in Windows 8.1. There are surely some free apps that can be used for hiding the “Start” button in Windows 7 and in Vista, but these apps have no compatibility with this update from Microsoft. If you want to hide the “Start” button, it can be done with the help of two apps.

Steps to Remove Start Button from Windows 8.1

Step 1: You need to go to this page to download “Stardock’s Start8” app’s advanced beta version. It is a paid application and you have to pay for it $4.99, but you can get its trial version for thirty days.

Step 2: You need to open the installer and follow the instructions appearing on the screen. Go to the Apps and click on the app “This PC”.
